First of all, I L.O.V.E. this space. Dream living room? I think yes. I love the warmth, the colors, the sense of class, and the very modern feeling of this space. I want to highlight the Elements and Principles of Design used in the space, but the last thing I want is to bore you as you read, so I will only highlight my favorites about this picture.
Color: Contrary to my normal taste, I really like the primarily cream color scheme in this space. The pops of bright color in the pillows and books brings an interest to the space.
Texture: With the cream color scheme, the textures are highlighted. The walls are smooth, making the furniture pop in the room. The rug's fuzzy texture stands out against the smooth composure of the rest of the area.
Repitition: The bookshelves display perfect repitition through the matching bowls, repeated in a pattern on both sides of the fireplace. The books and frame also reflect across the fireplace.
Balance: The balance in this picture is obvious. The sofas mirror one another, while complimenting the symmetry in the architecture. The bookshelves are in perfect symmetry with each other, and matching lamps adorn the back corners.
Overall, this space represents many of Elements and Principles of Design. Shouldn't we all consider them as we design and redesign our favorite spaces? Again, I think yes.
Malissa.
ReplyDeleteThis layout is just beautiful with this mint green and birds. So you, my friend. I really love the way that you laid out your entry. It keeps it really fresh and interesting.
Also, you're right that the symmetrical and asymmetrical balance are obvious...but they really do contribute to the aesthetics of this room.
Why hello my dear friend,
ReplyDeleteTo be quite honest, when I read your blog, I felt like you were sitting right beside me in our studio classes. Just like we were just chit chatting up a storm. So, good job on making your assignment more than just a picture caption.
Next line of business, well done on your analyzing. I do agree that you should one day own this space! The balancing between asymmetrical and symmetrical design pulls the room together (no pun intended :]).
You get a GOLDEN star!
Malissa!
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect example of how cream can enhance the beauty of design! Like you mentioned, I do not normally go for rooms that are mainly neutrals, but this room proves that cream is a great color choice. It is the perfect way to make colors really come to life but not overwhelm the viewer. This room appears fresh and timeless and the colors bring an aspect of liveliness that adds interest and excitement. Maybe, I will start considering a cream color scheme more often...maybe.
By the way, I love your background! =)
